In an exclusive interview that People Magazine recently did with the Obamas to celebrate his first year in office, the President and the First Lady let known their favorite movies. The following is the exchange:
Mrs. Obama: I liked An Education. And The Hurt Locker was powerful. It sticks in my head. I know what your favorite movie is — Avatar.

In this Sunday's New York Times' special section on summer movies, Karen Durbin picked out five actors whose performances deserve special notice. Two of them are really a couple--John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph in Away We Go. Durbin writes:

It was announced today that Sam Mendes' new film for Focus Features, Away We Go, will have it's international premiere as the Opening Night movie of the Edinburgh International Film Festival. The movie will play on June 17 at the world's longest continually running film festival, which recently moved to June from its traditional August slot.
